Park River
hosts 'For Women Only' event
By Chris Larson
When you see a group of women on motorcycles across the region, you probably
think to yourself, “What do these gals do for a living?”
Last weekend,
if a person was in Park River, you could have seen these women. They ride
motorcycles for a living—and it's his hobby. And last Friday through Sunday,
the women were in Park River for the 21st annual North Dakota Ladies Run. The
weekend event was also the first event held in the northeastern portion of the
state.
Kathy Enders, the founder of the event 21 years ago, was present for the
motorcycle run again this year.
The North Dakota Ladies Run is known as the longest running women only rally
in North America.
According to this year's run host, Daphne Fallis, the event was by far the
most successful one to date.
The annual event, in which Park River was chosen as host city, attracted
riders from all across the upper midwest.
Park River's event is one of several events being held throughout the summer
in the country.
According to Fallis, the event attracted riders from North Dakota, Minnesota,
South Dakota and Colorado, among other midwestern states.
“The response from riders was amazing,” Fallis said.
The three-day event has been in the planning stages for the past two years.
“A lot of planning went into the event,” Fallis said. “My committee worked
very hard.”
