This Team Originally started out as Jim Lusk's ABC team estimated in 1969 any further information would be appreciated, Jim did not ever bowl on the team, from the time I started with Marvin, and his first year of bowling the ABC was in the early 1960's according to him, he also did not bowl every year consecutively as I have done up to this point. | |||||||||||||||

of Events that have happened during our journey to all the different
cities that have hosted the ABC Tournament Grady - Leroy Partners Marvin - Al Partners This is Le Roy's first year on the team the same for Grady, we are the new boys on the team, our wives went along we stayed at the Union Plaza motel we are sitting on the beds talking in our room Grady Leroy were against the wall, Janette and joy set on the foot end, the door was open they could see the hall we were waiting for Marvin and Clarice we are just talking some guy walks into the room sees Grady and I and runs out, we go out to check and there is a knife laying on the floor of the hall way that was not there before, so what do you think the guy was going to do with two women? and a knife!!! Needless to say we closed the door and locked it.

We all flew into Orlando and drove up to Jacksonville it rained every morning like clock work at 8am til 9am just when we wanted to go for breakfast, on our way back from Jacksonville we get rerouted by the Highway patrol because of a forest fire inland and it was thick so we had to take a coastal road back to Orlando, and the traffic was terrible thank goodness we left early that morning,. after we made it past the fire zone we had to drive 100 miles per hr to make it to the airport because we were flying out at 10am that morning, when everyone woke up they couldn't believe that I was driving that fast speed limit was 75 at the time, but I said to them we don't have to worry 5 mins before a highway patrol men past me at a 100 + because he went by me like a bullet. | ||||||||||||||

Al and Leroy fly to Wichita and while we were there it was so windy it almost tore the doors off of the center we bowled at and lots of time the doors would blow open, they had a sand storm there so bad that the interstate was closed because it was impassable, plugged with sand. | ||||||||||||||

joins the team, and Darrell Lauer Welcome to the team We didn't bowl so good as expected but several of us placed high in the side tournaments running in the other houses, Clarence and Darrell bowled the 10 game marathon the day we left for Toledo and drove all night so they could bowl with us the next evening, we bowled at 10:30pm so it gave them a little more time to make it to the team event, but not to much to spare, they made it in about 2 hours to spare we were all worried, but they finally showed up.

over to Le Roy as Marvin Retires Marvin leaves team Sorry to see him go he was a very dependable bowler and taught us all a lot about the game of bowling, how simple is better. Marvin was one of the best doubles partners I have ever bowled with, I personally will miss him as well as the rest of the team, thank you Marvin for taking care of the team all these years and thanks for asking me to bowl with the team so many years ago.

We all bowl well,
but do not cash scores are high, to top it all off we have to drive home
in a snow storm through the mountains up to Denver From Albuquerque.
Denver the snow was so deep we could not open our doors on Ron's Explorer
to fill gas, we had to push them open!

Two of our
bowlers have a chance to win B J Singles at the Reno Hilton, Both could
have but bowled bad the last game, Ron Bartz and David Williams, Dave
decides to go bowling while the rest of the team goes golfing, and ends up
Winning the B J singles and becomes the National Champion With a score of
989 ? The conditions were tough and the scores were low all you basically
needed was to pick spares and catch a couple of doubles. View the hardware

One of our bowlers
could not make plane connections because of a mechanical malfunction in a
plane so his flight was cancelled. So we had to pick up a bowler with a 200 average Robert Clawson he was from Kentucky and a good bowler, for doubles we had to pick up another bowler Jerry from Utah to bowl DBLS with Dave Williams another great bowler his average was 173 |

The lanes were
awesome just like at home and we really enjoyed the condition the scores
were easy and we all bowled well, well ok, but we had a blast doing it
just check with anyone that was with us pixs prove the fun we have as we
make our annual journeys to the ABC. We bowled good in singles all of us
when we changed lanes the lanes were just awesome, well maybe just a
little dry, but Dave led the way with 612 then Le Roy with a 606 one of
his highest sets this year, then Ron with 589 - Dave and LeRoy were in the

Well we had another great tournament it is very hard to get everyone to bowl good even though it is very similar to our home condition, regardless we always have a great time bowling this year was my year to be off again if i could have bowled we could of had a chance to knock of first place but it was not to happen |
However it was a great trip as this was my 25th year as you can see on the
pixs on the page enjoy It is hard to believe that it has been 25 years of bowling the national tournament with all my friends and all the new friends we make each year bowling it's great having all the new bowlers on our companion team salute to you and welcome aboard |
