"Earth Mystic as Artist: The Paintings of Frantiska Brzon Palecek" 1912-1999
Speaker: Brian Palecek and Jeremiah Palecek

Frantiska Brzon Palecek lived her entire life in Republic County, Kansas on the border with Nebraska. She started painting seriously in the 1950's as she created paintings and sculpture for her home which became a gallery, museum, and sacred site. She was particularly interested in the development of life through the ongoing processes of evolution. Painting gave her a medium to explore the mysteries of life and death, fecundity and decay. Painting was one of the ways she expressed her passion as an "earth mystic". She often referred to her work as "Earth Music".

Brian Palecek will discuss the paintings of his mother, a Kansas artist and her influence on his life and spirituality.
Brian will be joined by his son Jeremiah who recently graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, and, who will also share how his grandmother influenced his life as an artist.
