NEVADA MILLER, a young North Dakota artist and avid sportsman,
is realizing his potential as a wildlife artist. His work is inspired by
his love for the outdoors and observations made while while taking advantage
of hunting and fishing opportunities. |
| Nevada's first published work, Mountain Music,
was painted at the age of fourteen. The original painting was donated to
the National Rocky Mountain Elk Expo, held in Reno, Nevada in February
1999. It brought $1,300 in the silent auction. All proceeds from the sale
of the original art were donated to promote wildlife. |
| Nevada participated in the PRWAS, Jackson Hole Artist's Workshop, in
October 1998. Featured artists at the workshop were Howard Rogers, Greg
Beechman, and Kobus Moller. Nevada learned many painting tips, and also
how to set up and run a business. |
| Nevada continues to support wildlife throughout his home state of North
Dakota and elsewhere as he travels with his artwork and forges friendships
with wildlife organizations and other artists. Many wildlife organizations
have purchased his prints for auctions at various events. |
| Nevada participated in the Official Federal Duck Stamp
Workshop in August 1999, at the Beartooth School of Art, Inc. in Bozeman,
MT. He enjoyed painting with, and learning from, some of the best artists,
including Daniel Smith, Bruce Miller, and PacoYoung. |
| Nevada presented his work in Dickinson, ND at the 29th
Annual Badlands Art Show in November 1999. |
| Nevada's 2000 Federal Junior Duck Stamp entry, Morning
Splendor, won Best Of Show honors at the North Dakota
state competition and an Honorable Mention at the National level.. |
| To assist in his painting, Nevada began studying wildlife
mounts at Dakota Taxidermy in Bismarck. There, he discovered a deeper,
more evolved understanding of the anatomy and movements of the fish and
wildlife he paints, enabling him to capture the realism in his paintings.
He also realized he had an interest in taxidermy and now works there as
another dimension of his artistry. A sample of his taxidermy
work is shown to the left. Click the Buck for a larger view and more
examples. |
| Nevada continues his painting and will be showing his work
at art events throughout the mid-west region. |
